Water Rockets
Water-rockets also known as bottle rockets. A water rocket is a type of model rocket using water as its reaction mass. The pressure vessel the engine of the rocket is usually a plastic soft drink bottle. The water is forced out by the pressurised air through the bottle opening and as a reaction the bottle gets launched into the air.
Events description:
Ø Your objective is to design a water rocket with parachute landing.
Ø You have to make sure that the pilot (a small toy provided by us) get’s launched well into the air, and have a safe landing.
Ø You can construct your rocket at the spot, you must bring your own stuff.(all u need are some simple stuff like plastic bottles, glue etc... refer webhttp://546kiran.blogspot.com/p/materials-for-constructions.html)
Ø We will provide some tips regarding the design (meet us at the spot on 29th oct).
Ø We provide water,air pumps.
Rules:
Ø Your bottle must be made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Generally all soft drink bottles are made of PET.
Ø Bottle volume must not exceed 2 lits.
Ø You can use 2lits+1lit+1lit (or) 2lits + 2lits combination.
Ø No electronic devices in the rocket.
Ø Must not damage your bottle with excess air pressure.
Ø Results declared by the judges is final.
Ø Must specify the materials used in your rocket.
Judging criteria:
Design (rocket+ parachute+simplicity)
Level 1: Horizantal distance travelled when launched at an angle of 45 degrees.
Level 2: Time of flight (time between the bottle gets launched and the pilot touches the ground).
WE WILL PROVIDE SOME TIPS ON 29TH, BRING YOUR MATERIAL SO THAT YOU CAN COMPLETE BY 30TH NOV (10:00 AM).
